JC TENNIS HQ
The JC Tennis Shop is located in the heart of North Dublin City on the Malahide Road in Clontarf. Officially opened in February 2018, the shop is one of Dublin’s newest location for tennis racquets, clothing, footwear, accessories and restrings.
The owner, James Colhoun, transformed a neglected, rundown building into the tennis Mecca that it is today. JC Tennis is now the only dedicated high-street tennis store in the country and maintains the only express racket restring service. JC Tennis could not have gotten off the ground and been a success thus far, without the support of family and friends, a loyal customer base and fantastic staff!
At JC’s we are passionate about everything tennis so pop in to say Hi or for a coffee anytime you’re near by!
OUR HISTORY - WHERE IS ALL STARTED
WHO IS THIS JC GUY?
JC are the initials of our very inventive owner James Colhoun… The story of JC Tennis began around 30 years ago when James signed up to the Dublin Parks Tennis initiative in St. Annes Park, Raheny, Dublin. Not only did James absolutely love the experience, but he also won the end-of-summer tournament and was presented with a gigantic trophy in Dublin Castle. The love for tennis was thus cemented; he then joined Clontarf Tennis Club and proceeded to spend every waking hour in that fantastic club, making lifelong friends and learning how to play the game we all love.
Through his years as a junior tennis player, James was lucky enough to travel the length and breadth of Europe playing tennis tournaments, and happened to play Roger Federer (twice!) and no, he lost on both occasions, sad face emoji… James also managed to win the Irish open Juniors at Fitzwilliam Under 14’s, having lost in the final the three years previously!
James achieved a scholarship to Clemson University, South Carolina, but after one year there he decided to come back to the homeland and study Arts at Trinty College Dublin and then Law at Kings Inns. During his student life, James worked as a tennis coach to juniors, adults and performance players. After working as a Barrister at Law for five years, the decision was made to go back to the roots and open a tennis pro shop. After a protracted search, a premises at 115 Malahide Road, Dublin was secured, and JC Tennis was finally opened in February 2018.
